Check Your Detector!
When it comes to your smoke detector, you never can be too careful! We understand that cooking and baking in your apartment-home can sometimes cause your smoke detector to sound off. In cases like this it’s better to increase ventilation in your apartment-home than to remove the battery from your smoke detector. It’s too easy to forget to put the battery back in later and that can be extremely dangerous!
Also, test your detector on a regular basis, once a month is recommended. Keep a spare battery to replace the current when it no longer works. It also helps to keep your smoke detector clean. In many instances, dust can be enough to cause your alarm to malfunction. A light brushing with a soft vacuum attachment will generally take care of this.
